Preamble

The early development of child health service in Hong Kong started 1960s when Paediatrics was firstly recognized as a subspecialty. Hong Kong Paediatric Society (HKPS) was firstly formed by a group of dedicated paediatricians with the official inauguration held at the City Hall of Hong Kong on 17^th August 1962. Throughout the years, Paediatrics has been developed as one of the well-established subspecialties in Hong Kong with over 500 qualified fellows. This year, 2012, is the 50^th Anniversary for HKPS and the Child Health development in Hong Kong. The coming Center of Excellence in Paediatrics (CEP) in 2016 signifies another breakthrough stage for paediatrics. In conjunction with this new era in paediatrics and the 50^th Anniversary, the HKPS would like to organize a series of professional and educational activities to celebrate this big milestone for paediatrics in Hong Kong and prepare ourselves for the new challenges.
