In 1967, the Hong Kong Dermatological Society was found, which was followed by the foundation of the Hong Kong Association of Dermatology in 1983.

In December 1991, these two societies were merged with dissolution of the Hong Kong Dermatological Society and renaming of the Hong Kong Association of Dermatology to the Hong Kong Society of Dermatology and Venereology.

Promote the interest in and a better understanding of dermatology and venereology;

Provide a venue for discussion of problems related to dermatology and venereology;

Endeavour to improve the standard of dermatological and venereological care;

Provide a means of liaison with workers in dermatology and venereology in other parts of the world.
